I just love Sundays. They are such a relaxing day. Evan and I went to church this morning (Rob is in Ann Arbor, Michigan at an orthodontic conference. What do you do at an orthodontic conference? Have wire bending contests?).
It was a good day at church-Evan made it through all of nursery! No temper-tantrums, no ready for his nap before nursery is over. He is trying to learn to share. Maybe by the time he is a teenager he will understand the concept, but then we will have other issues to think about. Evan is also working on actually drinking out of his cup instead of pouring the water on the table, so his goldfish crackers have a pond to swim in. He thinks he is being nice to the goldfish realizing that if they go without water for too long they will die!
I was lucky enough to fill-in as the Primary Chorister. I know you can all laugh now. Me and my limited musical abilities, and they asked me to substitute for the next 3 weeks! Have they ever

heard me sing? I guess not, so they don't know that I am tone-deaf and can't carry a tune. Plus it doesn't help that I am getting over a cold and have a raspy voice. At least it is in front of children who are very forgiving. Well, all in all it turned out fine. I am teaching them a song for their program in October. It is called, "Holding Hands Around the World" by Janice Kapp Perry. It is a really cute song and the chorus is fun to sing. We worked on the first verse up to the chorus today so next week will be more exciting by learning the chorus. The children caught on pretty quickly. I guess you don't have to be able to sing or even read music to teach children a song! Here is a picture of some of my props for the song. Don't you love the artwork! No I am not an artist either. I am a bit more left brain than right if you can't tell.

Rob is coming home tonight from Michigan so I decided to bake a cake. I like to think that I am a thoughtful wife, but I have to admit part of it is I have a very large sweet-tooth. We don't have any treats in our house right now so I figured I would whip up a Cinnamon-Swirl Cake with Cream Cheese frosting (don't you wish you lived closer to me to try it?). This way Rob feels special and my sweet-tooth is satisfied. Double bonus! While making the cake, I felt extreme gratitute for my Kitchenaid Mixer. I don't know how I lived without one! I just got it this past

Christmas and absolutely love it. I know I don't have to explain all the great things about it since almost everyone I know has one. It just took me a little longer getting one than most people. One of my favorite things about it is that it is RED! Red is my favorite color because it it bold and lively and makes me happy. Since my Kitchenaid is red it makes it even more fun to use. While thinking about my Kitchenaid, I start thinking about all of the other fun kitchen appliances and tools that I wouldn't mind having. Check out Williams-Sonoma and pretty much everything there I would love to have in my kitchen. So if anyone is feeling the need to purchase something for Mandy, feel free to!
I was also thinking about how I really like to cook but I have a few things holding me back: 1-it can be expensive cooking fancy meals, 2-I need more cooking tools as mentioned above, 3-I need some more cookbooks with meals that I would actually make and enjoy (if anyone has some good ideas of cookbooks that you actually use more than 2 recipes out of, I would love to hear about them), 4- I need a bigger kitchen with an oven that actually cooks evenly and at the right temperature. So as you can see this list contains a lot of "NEEDS" and won't be fulfilled any time soon. So for now I will be content with what I have and be happy when I look at my red Kitchenaid!

Side Note: Speaking of kitchens and food. I have this banana that is abnormally large. This picture doesn't do it justice. I layed it next to a normal size banana as a comparison for the picture. I swear it wasn't that big when I bought it. I feel as if it is having it's period and is bloated or it is using steroids. Do I dare eat it?

Yeah-Rob got on an earlier flight and got home before I posted this. Evan was so excited to have Daddy home that he wouldn't let Rob leave his side. Evan was watching a movie and wanted Rob there the whole time. If Rob slipped away for a moment, Evan would start saying, "Dada, Dada" and progressively get louder if Rob didn't respond quickly! It's good to feel loved!

Hi, Mandy!! Well, you at least know someone who doesn't own a kitchenaide mixer-- me!! I do wish we were closer-- that cake looks goooood. Take care, suz
Mandy, you are so funny! We need to live closer...one day...
I can't believe there was life before Kitchen-aids (or Tivo). I swear by Ina Garten's Barefoot Contessa Cookbooks. They are the best. Either her first one or her Comfort Foods are my two fav's... That cake looks to die for! Yum-Yum!! How long of a drive is is from LA???
You must have gotten that nanner from Costco... everything's bigger there.
I love Everyday Food Magazine. New one every month to keep things fresh
