Isn't it great how children are amused by the simplest things? You buy them all these great toys and all they want to play with is the box. Or they love to pull out your pots and wooden spoons and use them as drums. Well today Evan helped me realize that
it is the simple pleasures of life that really make you happy. We had an empty box that is about 2.5 feet by 1.5 feet by 1 foot sitting open in our dining room. Evan decided it would be cool to throw his sippy cup in the box but then he was unable to get it out. So I turned the box on its side so he could crawl in to obtain his cup. Well Evan just thought that was so neat to go inside the box so I opened up the other end of the box. This way he had a tunnel to crawl through. This kept him entertained for half-an-hour, which for a 19-month-old is a long time! At first Evan would just crawl through by himself but then he got creative and he would crawl through pushing his car or train. Then he realized he could roll his ball through from one end to the other. Evan was 
so content playing in a box!For all you "Friends" fans, this is our version of "Chandler in a Box".
It is nice to have a 1.5 year-old son help me remember that amongst all the chaos, there are life's simple pleasures that can bring a smile instantly. Ice cream on a hot day(actually any day!), a walk to the park, having friends to dinner, BBQs on warm summer days, fresh fruits and veges from the farmers' market, getting an email or phone call from a friend you haven't heard from in a while, seeing your baby smile for the first time, watching your child learn something new, family gatherings. What are some of your live's simple pleasures? Our lives are so busy, let's slow down and take some time to play in a box!

Evan we will have Uncle Michael get us some really BIG appliance boxes for you to play in when you come to see us. We are so excited, you will be here in 12 days!!! Yipee!!!!
I'm so glad you have a blog. Now I'm not the only geek around here! I love love love reading your entries! This is actually my first visit to your blog and I read all of them. I miss you guys. K, so we really didn't see you much when you were in Utah but I DO miss you guys. Sounds like Minnesota weather sucks. K, and those pictures of Evan are so stinkin' cute! I love the box ones and where he fell asleep in his little red chair! So cute! Keep posting! Oh, here's my blog too.
