Yesterday Evan and I got together with my long-time friends and their children. Cari was generous to let us use her house and Milo was nice to let the other children play with his toys. And what fun toys he has! Evan loved the sandbox outside that is shaped as a boat with a bell and steering wheel. Evan and Milo enjoyed digging in the sand and also throwing sand at each other! Oh boys! Evan, Milo, and Avery had a fun time playing while Carter watched them, thinking they were a bit crazy! And the moms enjoyed a great lunch, everyone contributed, but Cari made these wonderful Salmon Salads! Who says mom's can't eat well at play dates?! It is always fun for me to get together with my friends who I have know forever. Well, not really forever, but I have known Kelley and Cari since 4th grade and Chelsa since high school. We love to just talk, talk, talk and usually enjoy some good food. It is nice to catch up on each other's lives and a little gossip here and there. The gossip of this play date was that two of them are pregnant!! What? Yes, I said 2 of them are pregnant and one of them isn't me! Chelsa and Kelley are pregnant and due this spring! I am so excited for both of them! They will be busy with two kids under 2 come April/May. Actually Kelley's kids will be 13 months apart!! She is a tough little cookie, she can handle it!
Tonight Kelley, Cari, and I had a girl's-night-out at Porcupine Grill. No kids in-tow! It was nice to have a great dinner and fun conversation without interruptions! The things you look forward to once you become a mom. My friends are too nice. They know how rich I am, ha ha, so they paid for my dinner. It was too sweet of them. I owe them when I am rich and famous one day! What truly great friends I have. I am so grateful for my dear friends who live too far away and I only get to see them twice a year or so. I cherish my time with them. It doesn't matter how long it has been since we last saw or talked to each other, we just pick up where we left off. It never seems awkward. That is a true friend!! Love you girls! I am excited to see you again at Christmas time!!
