Polar Express and Great Finds

Evan and I took a trip to Ikea and Mall of America today. Like usual, I found some great buys at Ikea. I bought Evan a transportation rug that was on sale for $8.99! Now that is a deal since elsewhere they are $19.99. I layed it out in the living room while Evan was taking his nap. When he woke up he was so happy to see this rug to play on. So those of you that live near an Ikea, sorry all you Utahans you will have to wait until Spring 2007, go and check it out or if you are not in the market for a transportation rug I am sure you will find something else that you need/want. I just love that store - 200 colored straws for 99 cents, set of 6 kids plastic plates or cups or bowls for 1.49, kitchen rugs $1.99, great kids wood toys for cheap, I could go on but I will just let you check it out for yourself. It is much more fun that way. I think it would take at least an entire day to see every single item in that fabulous store.

On to Mall of America where they currently have a replica of the Polar Express train engine. That was our main agenda. Evan, of course, loved seeing the train. We walked around it twice. We also saw Santa. We didn't go sit on his lap, just walked by. I think it is a little too early to visit Santa, though if you were to ask me if it is too early to listen to Christmas music, I would say no way! Some guy who is the current record holder for world's largest gingerbread house, is building a 60-foot gingerbread house in the MOA. It will be competed on November 24th and the public can tour through it. Yes, actually walk inside the house! I am so excited to go through it. Sounds kind of funny, but when I saw it today under construction, it was pretty impressive. If you are interested in seeing the progress go to this link and scroll to the bottom of the page for a current picture.

I also got some excellent deals at Old Navy - a t-shirt for Evan for 1.18, jacket for 3.09, long-sleeve henleys for 1.69, and I got a fitted jean jacket for myself for 5.99 and a sweater vest for 3.28. I am definitely a bargain shopper and when I find great deals I like to brag a bit and show & tell everyone! It makes me so happy when I come across a great find. Unfortunately these deals won't be at Old Navy tomorrow. I guess these past few days they have had an additional 50% off of everything on clearance and I was told it ended today. Sorry, I wish I could have given you a heads up. But I will let you know when I find more good deals, especially with Christmas shopping on the horizon. And I would love to hear of all of your good finds. Happy Shopping!

How in the heck do you remember the prices, down to the penny, of every little thing you buy? Well, anyway, can't wait to see ya guys at Christmas!

Hey when you are on a tight budget like I am, every little penny counts. And the more you can get for your pennies, the better!!

Love, love, love the transportation mat. I am going to take myself down to Ikea to pick one up for Ethan. Thank goodness we have one now in MA!
