Window Friends

Evan's window friends. That is what Rob and I named them. There are a lot of children who live in our government-project-with-leaky-windows complex and they are always playing outside. Evan loves to play with them outside or should I say play along side of them. Last night Evan was in his pajamas ready for bed and some of the children came to see if Evan could come out and play. But since Evan's mean parents wouldn't let him go outside, they played through the window. Evan and the other children thought it was so cool. Thus the "window friends". Evan just loves to be around other kids, it doesn't matter if they are 1 or 18, as long as they are younger than his parents, Evan is happy! Thus Evan has loved living where we do now because there are so many other kids to play with.

Evan's window friends showed up again today begging to play with Evan. But once again his mean mom said no because it was lunch time. So his window friends sat outside the window and watched Evan eat! Can you say boring? Well I had told his friends that after he ate Evan was going to take a nap, but they still hung around until Evan went to his room for his nap. Then about 1.5 hours into his nap, Evan's friends kept coming back to see if he was awake. They asked me "are you sure he isn't awake, he is a kid and has a soft voice so maybe you can't hear him. You should go and check to see if he is awake." It was so nice to have an 8-year-old and 10-year-old help me parent my child!

Yesterday morning Evan and I were getting ready to go to the pool. Evan was dressed in his swimsuit and even had sunscreen applied. I had my swimsuit on and was applying my sunscreen when Evan kept begging to be put in his crib. He has been doing this lately when he wants his pacifier because that is where he leaves it when he gets up in the morning. And Evan knows that he can only have his pacifier in his crib. So I placed him in his crib to "visit paci" while I finished getting ready. Within a minute Evan's eyes were closed and he was asleep. I couldn't believe that this little bug who was so excited to go to the pool fell asleep a few minutes before we were leaving! So we postponed our swimming excursion to the afternoon which worked out nicely because it was much warmer. This may have been our last visit to the pool this year since it closes next week and we are suppose to have rainy weather for the rest of the week. So sad, but we will definitely be there next year!!
