Aleisha and Ryan's Wedding

My sister's wedding was on September 16th, but I am now just getting around to blogging it!

You make all of these great plans for your wedding day and then it snows!! Aleisha and Ryan's plans were to get married at the top of the Pay Day lift at Park City Mountain Resort in Utah. It is the same lift you take to go to the top of the Alpine Slide. The slide is off to the left and there is a meadow off to the right where marriage ceremonies are held. Then the bride, groom, and the guests can ride the Alpine Slide down the mountain after the ceremony. Sounds cool, right? Well not if there is snow on the ground! The night before the wedding it snowed a few inches in Park City which made the ceremony plans change to indoors. Not just because of the snow but it was also cold, and all the guests from California didn't have coats. Come on people, you are taking a vacation to the mountains, why didn't you bring a coat? You mean you didn't expect it to snow in September, well I guess we didn't either. So the wedding ceremony was moved to the Legacy Lodge at the base of the lifts. It is really pretty inside and has a rustic feel to it. The ceremony was performed in front of a rock fireplace which gave the room a mountainesque feel. It was nice to still have the outdoorsy, feel, but just inside a nice, warm lodge. I was a bridesmaid along with my younger sister, Stephanie, and two of Aleisha's friends, Sara and Jen. Ryan's best man was his grandfather, Waiff. He is such a cute little grandpa!

Evan was the ring bearer, though he didn't bear the rings. He was actually suppose to throw leaves as he walked down the aisle. Yes, kind-of like a flower girl, but we like to call him the "Leaf Boy". It sounds more masculine! The plan was for me to carry him and he throw the leaves. We practiced this many times and he did a great job. Well when it came time for our turn to walk down the aisle, he saw my dad behind us who was walking Aleisha down the aisle and Evan freaked out. He had been obsessed with my dad ever since Rob went back to Minnesota two weeks prior to the wedding. Evan wanted my dad to hold him, which really wouldn't have worked out! I got him to calm down and we started our walk. But he was so mad that he wouldn't throw any leaves, plus I think he was a bit nervous because of all the people looking at him! So I ended up being the "Leaf Girl" and I threw the leaves down the aisle. It all worked out fine and everyone thought that this little boy in a tux was darling whether he was throwing the leaves or not.

Evan looked so handsome in his tux. We actually borrowed it from Rob's sister, Stephanie. She had her little boy wear it at her wedding. I was surprised that Evan didn't fuss with the tux. I thought he would be trying to pull off the bow-tie since he hates things up around his neck. But he kept it all on and looked too cute! I can't wait to see the pictures the photographers took. They took a lot of candid shots of Evan outside playing in the snow and chasing ducks. Overall, I think all of the pictures will look nice since it was snowing lightly and people weren't squinting due to no sun!

After the ceremony they had hors d'oeuvres and cocktails at Hotel Park City. The hors d'oeuvres were to die for!! I could have just eaten those for my meal. I loved the diet Cokes with grenadine from the bar. The dinner was really good also. We had a green salad with pepper-parmesan dressing, chicken with basil pesto and sun-dried tomatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus and rolls. I wish I could eat like that every night, though I may end up weighing 300 lbs! To top it off, the servers brought out hot chocolate to warm us up. It tasted like pure chocolate! Delicious! Dessert was the wedding cake which was good of course, it was chocolate and sweet!

Dancing was after dinner and went into the night. Before dinner, I had taken Evan to a condo nearby where my cousins were watching him. So I left the party around 9pm to relieve them. It felt good to take off my heels, nylons, dress, and undo my hair. My sister had set up appointments for Stephanie and I to get our hair done in updos for the wedding. I wish I had a picture of my hair because it looked really cool. But no pic of me. I guess that is what happens when you are trying to take a few pictures and keep track of your son!

The evening turned out very nice even with the unexpected snow. The snow was a nice addition and made the atmosphere inside very cozy while looking out at the light snow fall. I think the snow was very appropriate considering Aleisha and Ryan are both avid snowboarders! Though, the newlyweds were off to Maui the day after their wedding to escape the snow and enjoy the heat! Congrats Aleisha and Ryan!
