My friend JoAnn had some free passes to the
Minnesota Zoo so I jumped at the chance. Who can pass up something that is free? Not me, especially while living on a student income! It was a perfect day for the zoo - not too hot, not too cold, and not too crowded. Most of the Minnesota Zoo is inside due to the long, cold winters. It will be a nice place to go in the winter to get out but yet stay warm. There is an outdoor part that has tigers, caribou, foxes, and all those bigger animals that wouldn't do well inside. One inside area, called the Tropics Trail, is like a tropical rain forest with a long trail that winds through it. It has a lot of animals that I had never heard of but were cool to see.

Another part is the dolphin area called Discovery Bay. They had a dolphin show what the kids just loved! I really liked it too. It amazes me what dolphins can do. The dolphins did this trick where they twirled around with a ball in their mouth and then threw the ball into the crowd. It was pretty impressive. My disappointment

about the MN Zoo was that they don't have the usual animals that younger kids would recognize, such as elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, ect. Maybe those animals wouldn't do well in this climate, I don't know. Even though Evan was disappointed that he couldn't see an elephant, which is his favorite animal,

he still had a great time running around the zoo with Benjamin, Grant, and Lauren. (Evan wouldn't sit still long enough to get his picture taken with his friends!)

I keep reading on your blog "long, cold winter". Good luck! It is coming; hold on tight!
I hope you are doing well. We are getting ready for a visit to Boston. Pretty exciting!

Cute pictures Mandy! I don't know if you heard but we set our wedding date for December 29th and one of the reasons we did is because you and Rob will be here. So you should feel pretty important. Eric's brother future man is pretty upset now though because he had planned a trip to California and Las Vegas at that time. He's not speaking with Eric presently. Gotta go, love you!
