Vehicle Fair and Lake Calhoun

The weather hasn't been great since I returned from Utah. It has been in the 50's and raining. But today was fabulous! It was in the high 60's and sunny! It is amazing when you haven't seen the sun for several day, what happiness it brings! I guess we are just getting prepared for the months of no sun in the winter.

Evan and I went to the city's annual Vehicle Fair. It was probably Evan's highlight of the year! What more can a boy ask for than a bus, a garbage truck, a snowplow, a utility truck, a fire truck, a mail truck, and a police car? And not only did Evan get to see all of these vehicles in the same parking lot, but he got to explore the inside of all of them also! He drove, sat at the back of the school bus, and sat in the backseat of the police car (hopefully that will be the only time!!). Oh, Evan also touched every wheel of every vehicle. Evan was ecstatic, to say the least! He had so much fun and probably said truck over one hundred times.

This afternoon after Evan's nap we took a bike-ride to Lake Calhoun. Well I actually rollerbladed and Rob rode his bike with Evan in the bike trailer. It was the perfect temperature and just so pretty riding on the trail with all the leaves changing colors. While we were riding to the Lake, the train came by which made Evan so excited. We pulled off the trail and were 15 feet from the train. We watched the whole train and Evan was so sad when the train went bye-bye. Once at the Lake, Evan played on the playground for awhile and walked on the beach. It is the cutest playground right there by the water. Of course I forgot my camera on this picturesque outing so I have no pictures to prove it! To max out the fun-meter, we went to dinner at The Tin Fish, which is a restaurant along the shore of Lake Calhoun. Rob was salivating as he was ordering his scallops and I was all excited for my salmon taco. And the food did not disappoint! It was delicious, even Evan's cheese quesadilla was great! It was so fabulous sitting on this patio over-looking the lake and enjoying good food. Once again, I am so mad I forgot my camera!! So I had to borrow a picture from The Tin Fish website. Though when we got home I hurried and grabbed my camera and took a picture to hopefully remember this great day (especially when there is a few feet of snow on the ground and it is below zero for weeks at a time, then I can remember better times will come)!!
