Elves Really Do Exist!

Now we know how it feels to be an elf! This picture is of us with Jarron Collins (6'11") of the Utah Jazz and Mark Madsen (6'9") of the Minnesota Timberwolves. My heavens, they are two tall guys!!
Mark Madsen is in our stake and we sat in front of him at Stake Conference a few weeks ago. Mark's brother use to live across the street from us and Rob met Mark when they were helping his brother move. So we got talking at Stake Conference and Mark asked if we would like to go to a Timberwolves game. Like to go? I think Rob was about ready to overflow with excitement and burst out, "I would love to go!" Well Rob kept himself contained and said of course we would like to go to a game. Mark is in the know and knew Rob was a Jazz fan so he said he would get us ticket for when the Wolves played the Jazz and then give Rob a call. Mark is a busy man and we thought that was the end of that and we would never hear from him. Well about 3 weeks ago Mark called Rob to confirm that he got us tickets to the Timberwolves vs Jazz game on December 8th. We were both ecstatic!!!
Well the big game was last night and we had a great time! We ended up having an extra ticket so we called up Steve who was flying solo since his wife and son are in San Fran, and he came along. We had 12th row seats right behind the Jazz bench. Evan did pretty well at the game he especially loved the wolf sounds they played. Evan has been working on perfecting his coyote sounds for his Grandpa Vardell. So a wolf was fun to imitate too!

After the game we had "back stage passes" that are for friends and family of the players. This picture shows the anticipation in Rob and Steve's faces. We were able to meet Jarron Collins, Derek Fisher and his mom, and Rob's favorite - Hot Rod Hundley, all of the Utah Jazz! And of course Mark Madsen was there. Rob bought a basketball at the game and had the players sign it for memorabilia of our fun night.
Evan thought the back stage passes were more fun to lick than to be admitted to meet the players!
Hot Rod actually played in Minnesota when the Lakers were the Minnesota Lakers back in the late 50's and early 60's.
We thank Mark for a great night!

Hi, Mandy!

Your post made me smile and think how small the world is! John and Mark lived in the same dorm at stanford. He is a REALLY nice, good, smart guy. Of course, so are you and Rob! It looks like you guys had a great time!! Merry Christmas! Let us know if you're coming in town-- there is a party that elisabeth and travis are having.

Mandy,

Despite what Suz said, you are not a guy.

But she is right about Mark. He is really nice!

Rob, you are a lucky man. That would have been a lot of fun to go to the Jazz game and meet the players. You must have been thinking about David and Goliath standing next to Collins.

Miss you guys. Settlers is on when you guys come to town.
