Ahhh-I was almost done with my post and the Internet Explorer window shut down. Why? I don't know, but I am so mad!!! So here I go again!
I hate for the weather to rule our lives, but when it doesn't get above zero in 4 days and doesn't get above freezing in almost a month, I can't help it! So when it does get above freezing we rejoice and head outdoors. Where you might ask? Well Evan always asks to go to the "tracks". We have train tracks that run along the side of our house and Evan loves to go on a bike ride to the tracks. Interpretation: "bike ride" means Rob or I push Evan on his trike because his legs aren't quite long enough to reach the peddles, but they are getting close! Maybe by late spring he will be able to trike-along by himself! Anyways we head out to the bike path that runs along side the train tracks and at one point crosses the tracks. To get to the bike path we have to go on a short rock path. Evan loves to get off his trike and throw the rocks into the snow to make "tunnels". Everything has to relate to trains in Evan's world. This picture is of Evan on the bike path. I stopped just before where the tracks cross the bike path to take a picture of Evan on his trike. But Evan apparently got so mad! He wanted to go on the tracks instead of smile for the camera.

Once we get to the tracks, which is only a few yards down the bike path, Evan loves to walk on the tracks. Rob and I aren't quite sure if this is such a good habit to let our son get in considering his safety. But we are always with him at the tracks and know about the times the train usually comes. Plus the train has to go quite slow once it goes through the city and it toots it's horn a lot to warn bikers who may be crossing the path. I know, justification!

Anyways, while Evan is walking down the tracks he likes to tell Rob and I stories about the trains. They are all about
"Thomas and Friends" and relate to trains getting stuck in the snow and Bertie the Bus breaking down. While doing so, Evan usually speaks "train talk" such as "Gordon says, 'Bother!'" and "Slow down and puff with care". It is hilarious to hear Evan say these things! He seems so grown-up! Here Evan is with his best
Cheezer! And happy to not be in all of his snowsuit attire. Since it was 35 degrees this day and not windy we opted to for-go the
snowpants. Evan could actually bend over and not fall down. Don't you just love kids in
snowpants!

Yesterday Evan and I went to
Edinborough Park, AGAIN! What else do you do in the winter? Well I remembered my camera this time, but while I was taking the first picture of Evan in the moonwalk, my batteries died and so this is all I got! Evan just loves it there. It is perfect for kids in the winter-an indoor park, what a novel idea!

This weekend we are suppose to get up to a foot of snow! I am actually excited about it. We haven't had much snow this year and the snow we have now is really dirty, crunchy, and icy. We have a mini ice skating rink right outside our front door! We face north and some of the snow melted and then the water froze at night. So with no work on our part, we have an ice skating rink! Feel free to come over and skate, though we are not liable! Have a good weekend!

Evan the Moonwalk sure looks like fun! Maybe one day I can come and go too. I'm concerned about you walking on the tracks, Evan you be careful and watch and listen for the trains. Wish we could see you in person, but this will have to do for now. Stay warm. Love ya,
Grandma Cindy
