Lake Minnetonka Regional Park

In the summer Evan and I spend a few mornings a week at the Rec Center pool down the street. It is zero-depth entry and has all sorts of fun fountains and slides. It also has Evan's favorite - a huge sandbox with water spouts. We love going there but it is always nice to do other things for a change. So today Rob, Evan, and I headed out to Lake Minnetonka Regional Park. What a great find!!! There is a swimming pond where the water comes from Lake Minnetonka and then it is filtered and chlorinated. So it is like swimming in a clean lake! Plus it is pretty shallow for a ways out and then the deepest is 6 feet. There is sand all around the pond and huge beach umbrellas for shade. We had so much fun digging in the sand and playing in the water. We had packed a lunch and Evan thoroughly enjoyed the Twizzlers! Rob multi-tasked by working on some retainers and playing with Evan in the sand. The best part is there are even bathrooms and showers to wash off all the sand when it is time to go home!
Across the way there is a ginormous playground and creative play area for kids. We drove by it, but didn't stop to play since Evan was exhausted by the time we were done with the pond. I think we will have to come back another day for more fun and try to spend some time at the playground. It was a beautiful day and fun to spend it with my boys!

That looks like a nice lake you are at. The lake we are at on our blog is wonderful Utah Lake (Rob was asking). The water is always a nice green color and you can't see your hand two inches under the water. But the water is warm and smooth most of the time. You can enjoy it also if you move back to Utah.
