Rob had lower jaw surgery on Tuesday morning. Evan and I accompanied Rob to the hospital until they took him back for anesthesia. We then left and went to an indoor park to have fun while our poor daddy was having his jaw broken! I was told that I would receive a phone call from the surgeon when the surgery was done. I was getting nervous because it was past the assumed time that I would hear from the surgeon. Of course at this point all the things that could go wrong are going through my head. Luckily about 10 minutes before I was about to call the hospital, the surgeon called and reported that the surgery went well and only took 1 hour. The jaw surgery patient before Rob's went an hour longer than planned so Rob's surgery started late. Of course this made Rob more anxious having to wait an extra hour to be taken to surgery. The anesthesiologist came to meet Rob and said, "so you are going to have your jaw wired shut.". Rob said that he wasn't suppose to have his jaw wired. Then the anesthesiologist of course had to tell Rob that the patient ahead of him ended up having his jaw wired shut!! It is not as if your anxious enough just going to surgery, but then hearing that the patient ahead of you had a longer than expected surgery and ended up with a wired jaw...Ahhhh! Well all of your prayers and blessings were answered since surgery went as well as it could! And no wired jaw!

Those first two pictures were taken yesterday (day 1 after surgery). This picture was taken today (day 2 after surgery) and hopefully the swelling will only decrease from here on.

If these pictures don't get you some sympathy nothing will. OUCH! We were feeling sorry for you, but after seeing the pictures we really feel so-o-o sorry. We hope you'll be feeling better soon. Try a protein shake with a little yogurt, banana, milk, and ice. Hang in there, hopefully you'll be feeling like your old self again soon. Love ya, the Watkins gang
Hey, the Danielson's don't mind the "fuller figured Rob"
As far as food goes - perhaps he should just have milk shakes, you know to get the rest of him fattened up to go with his face . . . I'm just sayin
Now you know what Rob would look like if he gained 50 lbs. Anyway, I just sent off an email to him. Good luck and I love you guys!
Rob, this will probably be the only time in our lives where we will look similar. Jaw surgery and water retention is fun--live it up!
Hi,
Your looking good at least now I can see a resemblence of the young good looking man my granddaughter married. Ron had a tooth pulled today and he too is miserable and trying to find soft food, we had mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner. His biggest problem is he has a summer misserable cold and cannot blow his nose or it starts bleeding again. Like my mom used to say "This too shall pass" Have a good one. Love you all, Grandma T.
