Today was Lily's first outing. She had her one week appointment with the pediatrician. It is freezing cold here so we had to bundle her good to go out.

I can't believe Lily is a week old already! I know that doesn't sound old, but time has just flown by. I don't know what I do all day, but I sure am busy. I have realized that feeding Lily is a full-time job. She has continued to lose weight since we came home from the hospital. Since she was a big baby at birth, she is still bigger than most babies but she has dropped down to 8 pounds 8 ounces. So the doctor has Lily, thus me, on a strict feeding schedule to get her weight back up to her birth weight. Each feeding is taking an hour to an hour & a half since I nurse her, then pump, then bottle feed her an additional ounce. We go back to the doctor Friday to see if Lily has gained weight.

Simply put Lily is just lazy! She would rather sleep than eat. I guess she just takes after her uncle Tyler and aunt Stephanie (Watkins that is) who can sleep all day. Lily would sleep through the night if I let her. Of course I want to let her so I can have some sleep, but I know she needs to eat. So in the middle of the night I spend a good half hour just trying to wake her up. I know most parents wouldn't complain if their baby sleeps a lot, but when the baby is losing weight it is a bit stressful. Hopefully all this time spent trying to feed Lily will pay off and she will have gained weight when we go back to the doctor on Friday.
Here is a picture to prove that Lily is awake for periods of time. She just can't seem to manage staying awake while eating or wake up when she is due to eat. Silly girl. Hopefully it will all just come with time.

Maybe it's something with girls named Lily cause we had the same problem (No fun!) & used to have to set an alarm at night to wake her up--I don't miss that stress! I hope she starts gaining--it's no fun!
