Scenic Soulier Cabin

Last night we were fortunate enough to spend a night with some dear friends from Boston. We are so lucky that we are in Utah the same time the Moores are visiting also. The Souliers invited us, the Moores and Jill to Jennie's family's cabin up by the Kamas/Oakley area. It is so beautiful up there. No wonder why Jennie tries to spend every minute she can at the cabin. It is so calm and relaxing there. Plus they have 20+ horses they can ride, a river and a lake close by and so much land for a kid to run around. And I swear they have a pair of cowboy boots in every size! What more can you ask for?

Jason, Chris, Rob, and Jill went up a few hours earlier to fish at some private lake that Rob swears Tiger Woods fished at! Jennie, Morgan, and I, plus all the kids came up around dinner time to meet the fishing group. The girls went horsebackriding while the boys watched the kids. The horse I rode was Nick. I think last time we went up to the cabin, about 3 years ago, I rode Nick also. I think I must have a thing for Nick! It was such a pretty ride. We went through a lake that we swear we saw a beaver in! Come to find out on our way back it was a rock!! It was such a nice ride having girl talk and watching the sunset. When we got back to the cabin of course the boys decided they needed a horseback ride also. So the girls started dinner. Morgan made her ever so fabulous Monte Cristo Sandwiches which we all devoured. Once the kids were in bed, the one and only Settlers of Catan was broken out and a few games were played. We had a great time chatting and catching up on each other's lives. Rob and I are so fortunate to have such great friends. We always talk about our Boston days and how we will always cherish them. We made such dear friends during those 4 years and will hopefully always stay close to them. It is nice that most of our Boston friends have some tie to Utah. This way we get to see each other at least once a year. (Special thanks to Morgan for the picture of the boots and of me riding Nick.)

Evan loved that two dogs were at the cabin also. Evan would stand inside at the glass door and talk to the dogs through the door. Here is Evan riding Libby, who is Jill's dog. Poor 17-year-old (I think) Libby had to put up with 25-pound Evan. Libby didn't seem to mind. I guess she has put up with many nieces and nephews.

We spent the night and then in the morning we packed up and drove home. But it wasn't that simple. We decided to see how many people we could fit in Jennie's Honda Odyssey for the ride home. It was seriously like a tv commerical for the Odyssey to show how much stuff and people you can fit in one mini-van! We had 2 large dogs in the back, 2 kids in carseats on the third-row seat, Rob, me and Evan in his carseat on the second-row and Jennie and Jill up front. Plus we had all of our bags from staying the night, fishing poles, tackle boxes, pillows, blankets, and food!! It was quite the sight! Check out the picture! Thanks again Souliers for a night and a car ride full of fun!
